We are seeking passionate, energetic and caring Support Workers who truly love what they do and want to make a difference in a young person's life. You will be committed, resilient and have a good working knowledge and understanding of trauma informed care and person centred approaches.
 

Own It - How we get the job done

In Perth we are responsible for a number of Out of Home Care (OOHC) Residential Services and Forster Care services for Children and Young People (CYP) aged 7 – 17 years.

The children in OOHC services are often long term placements for the Children and Young People we support. The services operates 24hrs /7 days a week and the Support worker we are looking for will need to be available to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, morning, evening, night and sleep over shifts. 

As a Support Worker within these units, you will be required to:

  • Be a strong positive role model and help, guide and support the Young People to develop life skills and achieve goals
  • Provide positive support in emotional and complex behaviours
  • Incident management
  • Personal care and hygiene
  • Transport the young people to and from appointments
  • Engage the young people in local communities, culture and recreational activities
  • Assist with education needs
  • Cooking and domestic duties which are performed in a safe, consistent, and secure home
  • Complete clear, concise and factual handover notes and incident reports

 Make It Matter - What you will bring to make a difference in other's lives

  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Youth Work, Welfare, Community Services and/or Disability
  • Driver’s license + Vehicle
  • First Aid Certificate  or willingness to obtain one
  • Working With Children Check, 395 Clearance and National Criminal history check clearance
  • Experience providing direct care in residential services (Out of Home Care) and/or disability based accommodation support services
  • Good working knowledge of the Children and Young Person’s (Care and Protection) Act 1998
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other services
  • Sound practice and knowledge or significant experience in meeting the holistic needs of Children and Young People who may have Autism or Intellectual Disability
  • Available and willing to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, morning, evening, night and sleep over shifts
